Second Sunday Club
What if Sunday never had to end? What if every gathering felt effortlessly joyful, endlessly welcoming, and irresistibly meaningful? The Second Sunday Club, born from a casual idea shared between friends—myself, Christopher Vinca, and Nathaniel Schmidt—grew organically into Asheville’s beloved monthly social picnic.
Our vision was simple yet profound: transform Sundays from days of idle boredom into vibrant celebrations of community, creativity, and conversation. With no hidden agendas and no boundaries, we fostered a culture where status was irrelevant and genuine human connections thrived.
As Director of Brand and business development, I spearheaded the creative direction and event management, building the club’s visual identity through thoughtful web design, photography, videography, apparel design, social media content, and engaging communications. Christopher brought our playful spirit to life visually, crafting a logo and capturing vibrant social media moments. Nathaniel’s welcoming presence and culinary passion made each event a warm, inclusive experience—truly embodying our motto: "Pursuing people, potlucks, and passions."
We envisioned Second Sunday Club as more than just a gathering; it was a lifestyle—a declaration that every day could carry the warmth, relaxation, and meaningful connections typically reserved for Sundays. Through monthly events held at diverse Asheville locations, we built a thriving, inclusive community where everyone, from "relaxed routiners" to "daring dreamers," had a seat at the table.
Our approachable yet distinctive brand messaging encouraged members to "leave their agendas in the car," fostering authentic interactions and lasting friendships. With each shared meal, laughter, and conversation, we proved that genuine connections arise effortlessly when fun and sincerity are prioritized.
Second Sunday Club became synonymous with joyful gatherings, reinforcing the idea that Sunday is not merely a day, but a state of mind accessible anytime. It was about creating a sanctuary from the pressures of daily life, where people felt free to express themselves openly, embrace their passions, and forge memories that transcended the weekend.
In an increasingly disconnected world, Second Sunday Club offered a powerful reminder that true human connection thrives best when we simply gather, relax, and enjoy the beauty of being together.
